Identified in 1797 by René Just Haüy, its name comes from the Greek “analkimos” which means “weak -that has no force”.
It is one example of a mineral that crystallizes in several crystal systems according to the order taken by its atoms …. it can be cubic, tetragonal, orthorhombic, and monoclinic too!
